Reach Edit Mode Quickly With Data Entry Views
A SharePoint Online tutorial by Peter Kalmström
When
you want to enter new information in a SharePoint list or
edit existing data, you want to get to the right place as
quickly as as possible. In the demo below Peter Kalmström,
CEO and Systems Designer of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions,
creates a new Data Entry view and adds an edit button to
a existing standard view. Both simplify the process of entering
data into a SharePoint list and minimize the number of clicks
and waiting.
Create a Data Entry View
- Open the list where you want to create a new view.
- Click on Create View under the ellipsis or in the
Manage Views group under the LIST tab in the ribbon.
- Click on the Datasheet View link.
- Give the new view a name and make the customizations
you prefer. Click OK.
Add an Edit button to a standard view
- Open the list in the view where you want to add
the Edit button.
- Click on Modify View under the ellipsis or in the
Manage Views group under the LIST tab in the ribbon.
- Click on the Display checkbox for 'Edit (link to
edit item)'.
- Select a position from left number for the Edit
button. Click OK.
