In
the previous article
we showed how to create a Word document that has the Quote
content type columns and add it to the content type. When
this is done, the document will be used as a template for
each new document in the Quotes library.
Now the Quotes library in turn can be used as a template
for other libraries in the same site collection. In the
demo below Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer of
kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, shows how to create such
a template and use it for a new library.
Create a Quotes library template
Open the Library Settings and click on 'Save document
library as template'.
Give the template a name. It is possible to also
include the content, but Peter does not do that as he
wants to create empty libraries from this template.
The template gets saved into the List Templates
Gallery, and a dialog with a link to that gallery will
open.
To create a new list from the new template, add an app and
select the template.
If you want to use the template in more than on site collection,
you can download the template file from the List Template
Gallery to your computer and then upload it to the List
Template Gallery in the site collection where you want to
use it. This works when you have the same settings, license
and activated functions on both site collections.
Content types that should be used by the whole tenant can
be created in
the Content Type Hub.
