In
the previous demos, Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer
of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, showed some settings
and features that are useful for Power Apps solutions.
Now, Peter will create a simple Dataverse solution for recurring
tasks. It has two tables, Templates and Daily Tasks.
The Templates table has information about all tasks that
are to be performed on a recurring basis. The Daily Tasks
table has the actual instances of the tasks that are to
be performed.
Each morning, a Power Automate flow loops through the Templates
table and creates instances of the tasks for the current
date in the Daily Tasks table.
Finally, Peter will show how to create two apps built on
the Daily Tasks table: a model-driven app and a canvas app.
In the demo below, Peter creates the solution and the two
Dataverse tables.
Steps
Create a Recurring Tasks solution.
Create a Templates table.
Deselect all the built-in columns and show only
the Name column.
Create two new columns, Description and Frequency,
and make them visible.
Add a task to the table.
Add a single line of text Next column to the table
(to be used in the flow).
Create a Daily Tasks table.
Deselect all the built-in columns and show only
the Name column.
Create a new Description column and make it visible.
The the
next demo, Peter will create the flow that updates the
Daily Tasks table.
