Understanding human language is one of the most difficult
things for a computer to do, but thanks to neural networks,
artificial intelligence and machine learning the algorithms
are getting better every year.
Now the kalmstrom.com
team has released Document Tagger for SharePoint,
a product that uses these technologies to make SharePoint
document categorization much easier. Document Tagger
is available in two SharePoint editions: a sandboxed solution
and an add-in.
Smooth document tagging
with full control
Despite the complex technology behind it, using the new
product is very easy. Select one or many documents in a
SharePoint document library and click on the Tag button
provided by Document Tagger. In a few seconds, suggested
tags/keywords based on the text in the document will
be shown.
The user evaluates the quality
of the keywords, removes those that are irrelevant and maybe
adds some more. When the user clicks OK, the tags are added
to the document and also to the Enterprise Keywords.
Avoid tedious work
"A SharePoint site is excellent when it comes to share and
store documents, but when the libraries grow big it is often
difficult to get an overview of the documents and find the
right one among all you have stored", says the Document
Tagger architect, Microsoft certified SharePoint specialist
Peter Kalmstrom.
"To manually tag documents with keywords is both boring
and time consuming, so often people avoid doing it or do
it inconsistently", he adds. "Now Document Tagger
can analyze your text(s) and suggest keywords and metadata
to tag them with."
Simplifies both tagging and finding Document Tagger does not only suggest keywords for
documents and presentations. The solution also makes it
easier to use the tags to find relevant and related documents.
The keywords are centrally
stored as Enterprise Keywords, so they are used by SharePoint
Search and can be suggested for the whole farm or tenant.
Third party language processor
The text analysis itself is not made by kalmstrom.com Business
Solutions or Document Tagger but by the
Google Cloud Natural Language service.
The kalmstrom.com team has
tested various language processing services and found Google
Cloud Natural Language to be the most reliable service and
the one that gives the best tagging results. It is also
secure, and users don't have to compromise on security or
control of business's data.
Thus, Document Tagger
sends data from the user's SharePoint to Google Cloud and
back again. kalmstrom.com is not involved in that process
at all.
Free support Document Tagger can be tested for 30 days without
any costs or obligations. During that evaluation period,
the kalmstrom.com team gives full support, just as support
and upgrades are included for organizations that subscribe
to Document Tagger.
Brand and company
Peter Kalmström and his team develop and market add-ons
for Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint and Excel under the brand
name kalmstrom.com Business Solutions. The common theme
for the kalmstrom.com applications is that they add functionality
on top of the Microsoft products they build on.
The company behind the brand is the family owned Kalmstrom
Enterprises AB, a Swedish business with customers all over
the world.
