A SharePoint Workflows tutorial by Peter Kalmström
Before
we start looking into SharePoint Workflows in this tutorial
series, we will discuss why you should automate business
processes in the first place.
In the demo below, Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer
of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, talks about the benefits
of SharePoint automation compared to manual processes.
Accuracy
A workflow always works in the same way, so once you have
tested the workflow and made sure that it works as it should,
you can rely on its accuracy. The workflow follows the same
process in the same way every time. It does not make mistakes
or variations now and then, like we humans do.
Tracking
With a workflow, it is easy to track processes. Workflows
can log and document what has been done, something that
is often requested by the management and sometimes even
by law. Such tasks are often boring to perform manually.
Speed
Even if there is a certain delay until the workflow is run,
it performs most processes much quicker than humans can
do.
