Upload Meetings List Templates
A SharePoint Online tutorial by Peter Kalmström
In
a series of articles Peter Kalmstrom, CEO and Systems Designer
of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, is showing a way to
use SharePoint to automate taking meeting notes and handling
meetings and meeting decisions in general.
In the
previous demo Peter created an action point list built
on the Tasks template and added his custom
Action
Points content type to it instead of the default Task
content type. Then he saved the list as a template, so that
it could be used in the whole site collection.
To use the template in another site collection it has to
be either manually uploaded to the List Template Gallery
of that site collection or added to the site collection
with a script. In the demo below Peter shows the manual
upload, but first he create a template for the meeting notes
list too.
Upload a template file (STP) to another site collection
- In the List Template Gallery click on the STP file
you want to copy to another site collection.
- Save the file to your PC.
- Open the site settings of the other site collection
- Click on the 'List templates' link in the Web Designer
Galleries group.
- The List Template Gallery library will open, and
you can upload the STP file just like you upload other
files to a library.
Before you start using the template in the new site collection,
remember to change any default column values set to suit
another site collection. Peter uses one site collection
per department, and therefore the department column has
a default value that must be changed for a new site collection.
