This
is the first of several articles on the Content Editor web
part. In the demo below Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems
Designer of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, gives and
introduction to the web part and shows the most common use:
to add the Content Editor web part to a web part page to
have the same features as in a wiki page.
You can find the Content Editor web part in the Media and
Content category. In SharePoint 2007 and earlier using the
Content Editor web part was the only way to insert text,
images and so on in a web page. It still works in that way,
so when you have added the Content Editor web part to a
page and edit it, you will get all the options that you
also get in modern wiki pages.
When you create a new page in SharePoint it will usually
be a wiki page, but SharePoint also has many web part pages,
like views and forms. On such pages the Content Editor web
part is very useful, because in such pages there is no other
way to add rich content.
There are reasons to use the Content Editor web part in
wiki pages too, and these will be shown in the next few
articles. You can for example add JavaScript and CSS to
a page with the Content Editor.
