Set up an Office 365 Trial
An Office 365 tutorial by Peter Kalmström
In
the first demo in the Office 365 from Scratch series Peter
Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer of kalmstrom.com Business
Solutions, shows how to set up a trial of the Office 365
Enterprise E5 edition. The steps are similar for other editions
of Office 365.
Since Peter recorded the demo, there have been slight changes
in the trial process. These are the steps in March 2023:
- In a web browser, type the web address
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/compare-office-365-plans
in the address bar. You will now be directed to the
Compare plans page.
- Click on the 'Try for free' button under the 'Office
365 Enterprise E5' option.
- 5. Enter your work or school email address. This
is to check if you need to create a new account for
Office 365. If you already have an account, you will
be offered to either sign in or create another account.
- Fill out your name, phone number and company name.
Select how many employees your company has. This does
not affect what features you will have access to, because
that was decided when you selected your subscription
plan.
Select your country.
- Now Microsoft want to verify your identity. Choose
if you want an automatic call or a text message.
- Enter the verification code you receive in the call
or message.
- Enter a user name. Note that this name cannot be
changed later. You can create new users, but they will
all have the domain you decide on here, unless you create
another account with a new domain, of course.
- Enter a password and check or uncheck boxes
to decide if and how you want to be contacted by Microsoft.
- Now the trial account is created. It may take 15
minutes before SharePoint is set up, but even if all
services are not set up yet, you can install the Office
desktop apps or add users to the new tenant.
