Excel 2016 from Scratch
Import Text
An Excel tutorial by Peter Kalmstrom
In
this demo in the Excel 2016 from Scratch series, Peter Kalmstrom
shows two different ways of reaching the Text Import Wizard
to add data from a text file into an Excel sheet.
One way is to select all text by using the Select All option
or using keyboard Ctrl A and then copy it and use a paste
option in Excel that gives you the wizard.
The other way is to reach the wizard by using the From Text
button under the Data tab in the Excel ribbon.
This is what Peter shows in the demo below:
- How to choose the file type to describe data in
the best way.
- How to see text delimiters in Word.
- How to keep the headers data as headers when importing.
- How to change the format of the data in a column.
Peter uses Excel 2016 for his demo, but the Excel basics
are the same for later versions of Excel.
