Swedish Grammar
Swedish grammar and Word Formation, Rules and Exercises
Swedish
grammar and word formation is a website for students
who are learning Swedish as a second or foreign language.
They can have explanations to the language rules in easy
Swedish, English or Finnish. Behind every exercise,
there is a photo from Sweden.
Swedish grammar and word formation has basic as well
as advanced information, so the site can be used for a long
period of time. Rules for Swedish pronounciation are also
included, especially length and emphasis, which is important
for both grammar and word formation.
The site has many examples to show how to use the rules,
and the example phrases are recorded so that the students
can listen to them.
The site also has many self-correction exercises
of different types, where the students can test if they
have understood the rules.
Students can either follow the recommended progression with
the help of arrows or use the site to look up language rules
and practises. The detailed Table of Contents in Swedish
grammar and word formation makes it easy to navigate
the site, even though it has as many as 193 pages.
Swedish grammar and word formation is a non-profit
project, and the site is free to use. Therefore, we have
not added features like personal statistics, which would
require authentication.

The site builds on the book
Swedish grammar and word formation by Kate Kalmström.
This book has been used by students worldwide for many years,
to learn Swedish.
The author has long experience of teaching Swedish to immigrants,
and she has a solid education in Swedish as a second language.

Book reviews:
"The explanations are written in Swedish
first and English right below, making it easy to
understand.
Each explanation is brief and conveys the
main points more clearly than any textbook I've
seen before. Explanations of prepositions are also
detailed.
It's hard to find textbooks in Swedish, but I found
a good textbook this time."(translated from
Japanese)
"Great book. It gives many explanations you don’t
find in iPhone apps. Wider vocabulary than I learned
in Duolingo." (USA) |
