Maximize List Items In SharePoint
A SharePoint tutorial by Peter Kalmstrom
In
this tutorial Peter Kalmstrom, CEO of kalmstrom.com Business
Solutions and Microsoft certified SharePoint specialist
and trainer, shows an easy way to maximize the number of
items in a SharePoint list. When someone tries to add an
additional item a message will be show and no item can be
added.
This method is useful when you want users to be able to
edit list items but not add new ones, as this cannot be
achieved with SharePoint permissions.
Peter is using SharePoint 2013 for this demonstration, but
his method for maximizing the number of list items works
equally well in SharePoint 2010.
These are the steps:
- Create a list with the maximum number of items.
- Set the validation for new items to something that
can never be true. Peter uses a created day for new
items that is before the list creation date.
- Write a message to be show when someone tries to
book a new item in the list.
