Automatic E-mail Alerts and Workflows – Introduction

SharePoint iconSharePoint lists give a possibility to have an e-mail message sent automatically under certain conditions. Some of these alerts can be set in the List settings, but to have a customized notification you need to create a workflow in SharePoint Designer. The workflows give nearly endless possibilities for under what conditions the e-mail should be sent and to whom.

In a series of articles with demos by Peter Kalmström, CEO and Systems Designer of kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, we show how to set different kinds of alerts and create workflows for a SharePoint list. SharePoint libraries have some of these possibilities, but not all of them.

(If you are using Kanban Task Manager, please do not use the workflows 4-7 with the Kanban Task Manager tasks list. They will create problems on the kanban board, but we are researching it to find a solution.)
